Suwon Fermentation is a seed malt company which has been existing
in Korea since the restoration of independence,
and is the company specialized in producing seed malt with longest history in the country.
Jong-ho, Do, the CEO of the company, succeeded his father, produced aspergillus oryzae, aspergillus luchuensis, and aspergillus awamori in the name of Chunil Seed in 1964, and acquired the permit to manufacture items from Ministry of Health and Social Affairs, for the first time in corresponding field (permits numbered 1 – 4, being the greatest in number at that time). In 1970s, assuming the role of the technical director in the Association of Seed Malt Manufacturers in Korea, he sent engineers to many seed malt factories to help them technically, with the faith of ‘coexistence’.
Suwan Fermentation has contributed to the liquor and soy fermented foods industry during the past 60 years, supplying the principal fermented foods companies in the country with excellent, pure seed cultures extracted from the high quality fermented soy beans and yeast and cultivated in mass amount by the company itself. The outstanding source technology the Suwan Fermentation has, from separating excellent, pure seed cultures from nature, through cultivating, preserving longtime, fermenting in solid state without germs, to producing the final seed malt, ensures the highest quality of 10 billion spores per gram as well as the high capability of making sweet taste.
The company is leading the modernization of the seed cultures producing facilities, establishing the 2nd factory in 2006 through continuous investment for R&D and equipment, and introducing the Solid State Automatic Fermentation (SSAF) system in 2011 for the first time in the country. Suwan Fermentation, having been with the history of fermentation foods in the country, is doing its best to research and develop various fermentation microbes, microbes helping agriculture and livestock breeding, functional bio-materials, etc. that would help the environment of the earth, and to take care of the foods for the upcoming 100 years based on the microbes cultivating technology accumulated so far. Above all, Suwon Fermentation will do all it can do to produce and supply widely the excellent native microbes, leading the industrialization of the native microbes related fields in Korea.
